I don't have anything against Julius Jones, I really don't. I think he's an outstanding RB. But it just seems that Marion Barber is a little bit more aggressive than him. Marion Barber plays more like a starter than Julius Jones and I think he could be even better if he could get more playing time. What do you think? Why are the Cowboys starting Julius Janes when Marion Barber is a better RB?
I know what you mean man. I'm a huge fan, and I feel your pain lol. Julius is alright, but Barber is more powerful and can get the job done better. I guess it's because Jones is quick, but at least they switch them up from time to time. Their duo is pretty effective in my book, but I think they should trade Jones and keep Barber and get a linebacker or a safety. Why are the Cowboys starting Julius Janes when Marion Barber is a better RB?
Look at Adrian Peterson for the vikings he is the best Rb in the league at the moment and is starting behind Chester Taylor. But it falls on the coach on what he thinks works the best for team.
I don't know why either barber should start because jones ain't that good.
Julius Jones can brake the big one on any given play....Marion Barber has the drive to give you the tough yards when you need them....This pair works well for the cowboys....the trend in football is to go with 2 backs....This way they stay fresh for the entire game...
Marion usually plays in the red zone...while the cowboys use jones up and down the field.
1. It works for them!
2. Jones is a FA after the season and the Cowboys will not be resigning him. Sharing the workload now will lengthen Barber's career when he becomes the featured back next season.
duh? so they can prove to everybody they can win without their best players
Jones is fast, and if he breaks it then he can tire out the defense from them having to chase him. Barber is more of a power runner, it's far easier for a power runner to succeed against a tired defense. That's my assessment.
and who's your coach again? most of us can agree with you about barber being the better runningback, but let's not forget this is the same coach who sat doug flutie in the playoffs for rob johnson.
They work as a tandem, they put Jones in at first, and slowly wear down the defense. Then, after the defense is winded, they put in Barber to punish them, and give Jones a break. It's an awesome tandem to have.I do admit that Barber runs with more heart than Jones, but Jones is faster and shifty, and he can break the big runs on you. Marion the BARBARIAN! He is a punisher. I love you watch him run the ball.
Alot of people think the same but it is working for the boys and until it doesnt then i wont complain.
Julius Jones is speedy, use him downfield as well on the outside. They also use him as a receiver too.
Marion Barber gets a lot of the goal line carries since he's a strong power back and has to pound it through the goal line defense.. There's advantage to both, as everyone else has stated, and using them in tandem is a tough combo for any defense to contend with for 4 quarters.
I'm not a Dallas fanboy, but that's my assessment
Who cares? The Cowboys will lose this week and end up 8-8 at best.
