How can I estimate the number of barber shops in a given city?

it was a question in an interview, they asked: ';how many barbers do u think there r in the city X given the population is Y?How can I estimate the number of barber shops in a given city?
To save time you could take the average number of barber shops in the three closest towns to you and multiply the ratio to the size of the city in question. There will not be a huge amount of difference in the ratio. If they say otherwise get them to prove it. Throw it back in their lap. It's an estimate remember not an exact figure.

Or get on companies house or buy a mintel report

I hate interviews :-D
