Who is the better runningback, Frank Gore or Marion Barber?

Frank Gore from the 49ers went to the Pro Bowl 2 years ago in his sophomore season, and lead the NFC in rushing yards that year. Marion Barber went to the Pro Bowl last year, and is the primary starter for the Cowboys this year.Who is the better runningback, Frank Gore or Marion Barber?
Frank Gore. He's stronger, gives a slight bit of speed up but has a knack for finding holes, and he can also play the role of a WR much better than Barber.





Did you see just how ';good'; Barber was against a very tough defense in the New York Giants that likes to send heat? He did just awful. He wouldn't have put up 1700 yards playing for San Francisco two years ago with the 49ers line.Who is the better runningback, Frank Gore or Marion Barber?
They play in different systems so comparing stats is a place to start but not the sole determining factor as to which is the best RB.





Barber's stats are way down from last year and the early games this year. Probably because of the deteriorating Dallas OL and lack of a serious passing attack since Romo's pinky broke.





Barber is averaging 3.9 yards/carry. Gore is averaging 4.6.


Both are dependable receivers. Gore has the edge in yardage, and even more so if you discount Barber's 70 yard scamper.





Barber has 7 total TD's, Gore has 5.


Barber has 5 fumbles in 9 games, Gore has 2 in 8 games.





At this point in the season, I'd say Gore has the edge and is the better RB.





However, if I was choosing a guy for my team, I'd probably go with Barber. I think he'll end up with a more productive career and I like his attitude and his determination.
If you go by stats Barber is the better running back. Plus, I like how he powers over people when he has the ball. Of course you have the argument about who has the better line, which could be part of the reason Barber is running so well. Would Emmitt Smith had run so well if he played on the Lions? What would Barry Sanders numbers look like if he played for the Cowboys?
barber is probably the better all around back as this year without really splitting time he is doing it both running and catching. they are both great backs, but if i'm at the goal line and need a bull to score late in the game, i'd rather be handing off to barber. he's a nightmare to tackle.
You know why everyone thinks marion is better? Tony Romo, and that damn line. That is the only reason.





Frank is a much better/ Reliable running back.





If only he had a line to work with... watch a few years down the road, you will see
Barber plays for a team that gets more attention. Gore is playing on a poor team that gets little attention. I personally like Gore better from what I have seen of him.
Frank Gore. Both are physical runner but Frank Gore can run a lot faster than Marion Barber.

not even close its Frank Gore. Gore can run after the catch and has much better pass catching skills then Barber.
